COLONY GRILL | ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA

COLONY GRILL | ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA

November 5, 2020

“In 1935, a post-Prohibition tavern named Colony Grill opened in an Irish immigrant neighborhood in Stamford, Connecticut. Since then, Colony has become famous for what is now it’s only menu offering: a one-of- a-kind, thin-crust pizza, best served with the signature “hot oil” topping.”

Colony Grill is a trendy Irish pizza parlor in Arlington, Virginia. We recently finished this restaurant fit-out and are excited to showcase the build! This is the sixth location for Colony Grill, with Stamford being the first. BGC | G&G repurposed aged brick to give this restaurant a new time colonial look. Anitozzi Associates’ design of this unique tavern is notable through the exposed brick, mezzanine, booth and bar seating, black bead-board paneling, and industrial lighting. BuilderGuru Contracting worked with the four owners/brothers(Paul Cognillio, Ken Martin, Chris Drury, Cody Lee) to execute the design right in time for fall. Customers can grab a slice of pizza and a beer as they stroll around the heart of downtown Arlington.

Fun Fact: How cool is it that John Amos, one of BGC | G&G’s superintendents, has a relative on the “heroes wall” at Colony Grill? His grandfather is recognized for his service in WW2 and his picture can be found in several places around the restaurant, along with other veterans and first responders.
